Is building a new home on the Coromandel just too hard? If you think it is, then maybe these ideas in this article could give you another viewpoint.

There are probably lots of reasons why people who consider building a new home just don’t do it.  While we suspect that for many it probably doesn’t even occur to them, we wonder how many actually think it’s just ‘too hard’?

Building a new home coromandelHow do you define ‘too hard’? For some, hard work could mean a number of things. It could mean “There’s too much risk” or “I don’t know much about it.”

It’s human nature that when we don’t know enough we’ll tend to avoid thinking about or doing anything. This applies in all parts of our lives – not just when it comes to real estate.

At Build7, we think fear of the unknown plays a large part. That’s why as local builders, when we talk to families about building their new home on the Coromandel (or anywhere around New Zealand), we start with the question of value. Would it be worth it? If you haven’t reviewed all of the facts – and you don’t think it’s worth it, then you will never build new! But if you review the factors objectively and look at the facts – it could very well be the best decision of your life.

There are many safeguards that can minimise risk when it comes to building a new house. There’s just a few that we carefully explain with new clients:

  • During the initial engagement phase, nothing is finalised without your full agreement and everything is documented. In addition, we’ll not only answer your questions, we’ll also explain details and potential pitfalls that you might not have considered.
  • The building process is transparent. The build process is carefully explained, and you’ll be ‘in the loop’ from day one. Knowing what happens from one week to the next helps with your comfort level.
  • Building payments are staggered. Payments to the builder by you or the bank are made in stages. You’ll be able to see real progress on your new home as payments are made during the course of the construction process.

Building a new home with Build7

We deal with clients at various stages of the building journey. Some are purely in research mode – without any ideas or a section.  Some have a section and even house plans and need a building quote. Wherever you are at, you’ll be dealing with the building owners when you deal with Build7 Coromandel. And because of that, we’re happy to help with research, groundwork and give you access to the latest local information and contacts that we have available to us.

The reality is that if you convince yourself that the risk of building a new home is too high, then unfortunately no-one is going to change your mind. There is risk in nearly everything we do in life – even when it comes to buying or building a home. But that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t do things that make sense! What it means is that we should take steps to get educated before making the right decision for us at the time.

Building may not be for everyone. But is it really just ‘too hard’?
